Pure. Clear. Water. We all need it to survive and many of us in the developed world take it for granted. Sadly, there are over a billion people around the world who don’t have access to clean drinking water. As a result, millions of people die every year because of water-borne diseases. Many of them are children.
Most of these children live in Africa where the AIDS virus has torn through their families, leaving them as orphans.
With no one to care for them, they are susceptible to any number of tragic circumstances.
Horizon International is bringing hope to these children by addressing their need for food, shelter, clothing, education
and introducing adults who will demonstrate love and care to them.
As Horizon expands their influence throughout the southern regions of Africa, they are increasingly in need of fresh, life-giving water wells to be dug. Without pure water, they are unable to establish themselves in new territory, and therefore unable to meet the needs of the AIDS orphans.
The Well, a missional church in Hamilton County, is partnering with Horizon International to finish construction on a well in Zimbabwe. This well will provide water for hundreds of secondary school students in the Mt. Darwin District.
A second well will be installed on a new farm in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. This well will provide water for all those
who are hired to work the land and irrigate the crops that are produced so hundreds of orphans in the Bulawayo region have food to eat.
